Jerry and Sue Bailey, residents of Jackson, MI, accomplished the tremendous feat of paying off 92 thousand dollars worth of credit card debt. This debt they had begun amassing in 1992 and lasted all the way until 2005. Their debts spanned over 17 different credit cards. Upon appealing to their local credit union in the spring of 2005, the Baileys were advised to file for bankruptcy.

However, they refused to go that route.

?We just don?t believe in that,? Sue Bailey said to Fox. ?We believe in paying what we owe.?

They were then referred to a not-for-profit credit counseling agency called GreenPath Debt Solutions. GreenPath and companies like it help consumers who are struggling to meet their financial obligations establish a realistic debt management plan in order to pay down their outstanding debts.

The agency negotiates on behalf of their clients with creditors to arrange for affordable monthly payments and for reduced interest rates. Clients then pay a sum each month to the agency who, in turn, distributes that money to the creditors until all debt has been paid off. With the assistance of GreenPath, it took the Baileys five and-a-half years to settle their debts, once and for all.

It was a long, arduous road. Through careful budgeting, tough sacrifices and earning additional income by taking on additional work, Jerry and Sue?s struggle to settle their outstanding debts ended in October 2010. When GreenPath phoned to say they were finished paying back what they owed, Jerry Bailey was floored.

?I had her repeat it because I wasn?t sure,? he recalls to Fox.

The advice he has to offer anyone out there facing seemingly insurmountable debt load is to ?put just a little bit out of every paycheck into a savings account. Let it build up for when that rainy day comes, because it does come.?

As far as credit cards go, Jerry cautions ?don?t get more than one. You need to have one, but pay it off every month,? as per Fox.

Ed Helms comes into his own as new boss of "The Office" (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) ? Actor Ed Helms had no idea his character Andy Bernard on television's "The Office" would be promoted until a few weeks before shooting began on season eight of the NBC comedy.

"I knew about three or four weeks before we started shooting," Helms told reporters on Tuesday. "(Executive producer) Paul (Lieberstein) and I had lunch and that's where I learned of the news."

The news was a long time coming for fans as well as the ensemble group of actors who make up the Emmy award-winning NBC series. Last year, when "Office" star Steve Carell, who played office manager Michael Scott, announced he would be leaving after 7 seasons, much speculation followed about who would fill his shoes.

"Right away the question that came up was: 'What's gonna happen next?'" Helms said in a conference call. "There just wasn't an answer for a long, long time which in some ways was a blessing. It gave us all time to zen out about it and come to terms with whatever it might be."

Last season saw Will Ferrell come in as Deangelo Vickers, the interim boss of the Scranton branch of the fictional Dunder Mifflin paper plant.

It culminated with a May finale that featured a slew of actors playing characters interviewing for the position including Will Arnett, Ray Romano, Jim Carrey and James Spader -- along with plenty of internal candidates.

The season 8 opener last Thursday revealed that Spader's Robert California got the job, but then leveraged it to become the new chief executive. He chose Andy Bernard to be the new office manager.

"There are a lot of aspects to the Andy Bernard character that makes him extremely suited to manager," said Lieberstein, who also plays human resources representative Toby Flenderson.

"He cares about people more than about the product. Any little problem that anybody's having, he would feel very deeply, which makes him very suited to being a comic lead on the show and a story generator."

The upcoming season promises many clashes among the characters, beginning with Robert California, whose "crazy energy ...is not something that Andy Bernard is equipped to deal with," said Helms.

Helms also revealed that Andy's relationship with Erin the receptionist (played by Ellie Kemper) will be further heightened.

"With Andy's new boss position, there's a power dynamic that comes into play which makes all of that tension and awkwardness that much more difficult," revealed Helms. "Things do get tricky, especially around Halloween."

Singer Josh Groban, will guest star later in the season playing Andy's brother.

"Josh's appearance is part of a really exciting episode for me and for Andy because it's really where we learn a lot about Andy. Not all of it's good and some of its poignant. Of course there is some fun music that gets mixed in there too," Helms said.

Craigslist Real Estate Marketing ? 3 Issues to Avoid

One of the best real estate marketing strategies for attracting more leads is by using Craigslist. This is literally how we produced thousands of leads for our own real estate business in a very short amount of time, and the traffic is always completely free!

However, there are various nuances that you must also be aware of when posting to Craigslist, in order to ensure that you keep your account in good standing and gain the most exposure possible. Therefore, let?s review 3 of the top issues we see our clients run into, and how you can best avoid them.

1. Getting Flagged ? Regardless of how relevant and well written your Craigslist real estate marketing ads are, there will always be instances where an anal competitor or even Craigslist reviewer will flag an ad for whatever reason.

   Unfortunately, this can happen anytime an ad is flagged more than once. Thankfully, you can always post more than one ad throughout the day. Plus by maintaining an active account, you will be able to repost each submission whenever this issue arises.

2. Being Ghosted ? Another huge hurdle to overcome with Craigslist is the infamous ?ghosting? technique. Instead of notifying you whenever they feel something doesn?t jive, they will simply not show your ad copy within any of the searches.

   So your Craigslist real estate marketing ad may appear to have been posted, but if you run a search within 30 minutes and it?s still not there, then it most likely has been ghosted. This can happen to any ad at any time, and there is not really any rhyme or reason to Craigslist?s algorithms. We will cover solutions for this along with #3 below.

3. Blocking Your IP ? Although this is very rare, from time to time Craigslist will completely block your IP address if they feel you are not following their policies. Again, you may unjustly have this happen to you (typically not the issue), only because they are trying to protect their system from spammers.

   If for whatever reason their system feels that you fall within that category (usually due to over posting), then anything you try to post from that specific IP will never show up in the searches. It doesn?t matter if you open a new account with a different email address, because they will be tracking your IP.

So here are a few things to keep in mind. First, be sure to space out your submissions throughout the day. We recommend no more than 2-3 ads per local area for your Craigslist real estate marketing. Also, be sure to change up the titles, copy and the html you are using as well.

If you plan on submitting a lot more to cover various markets, then it may be best to run campaigns from a couple different accounts. Keep in mind that you?ll need to telephone verify and you can only use a number once. So consider partnering with other agents in your office.

Finally, if for whatever reason you end up having your IP flagged, then don?t panic! If you feel that the punishment was unwarranted, you can always try contacting Craigslist directly to get this issue resolved. It may be necessary to have your IP reset as well, but by following their guidelines when posting, Craigslist real estate marketing ads, you should be able to avoid this.

Vote shows Boehner's lack of control (Politico)

House Republicans tried a fresh strategy Wednesday night: Go it alone on a spending bill.

The result was an embarrassing setback.

Wednesday night?s rank-and-file rebuke of GOP leadership ? with 48 Republicans bolting on a temporary spending bill ? underscored the fact that the House Republican majority is still struggling to find unity on major spending bills. It also showed they still need Democratic votes to help them govern.

The pressure from an angry Speaker John Boehner didn?t work ? he even threatened to strip committee assignments. Four dozen Republicans ?mostly conservatives ? wanted more cuts, and they just said no, creating an uncomfortable scene on the House floor as the funding bill failed on a 195-230 vote. Democrats showed a rare moment of unity in overwhelmingly opposing the continuing resolution, which would keep the government funded through Nov. 18.

Now, to prevent a government shutdown, Republicans will have to rewrite the bill and figure out how to get the votes.

GOP lawmakers and aides ? including Appropriations Chair Hal Rogers (R-Ky.) ? blamed Democrats for defeating the bill. Democrats, including Appropriations Ranking Democrat Norm Dicks, said they?d support the bill, but reversed course because of pressure from Democrats opposed to an offset that cut a subsidy for automobile manufacturers.

Rep. Gary Peters (D-Mich.), who sent a letter with more than 100 signers pressuring Speaker Boehner to drop that provision, said Boehner will have to cooperate with Democrats to push a stopgap measure across the finish line.

?He can?t pass this bill with his own members,? Peters said of Boehner. ?He has basically 30-40 members in his caucus that are so extreme that they wouldn?t vote for this bill.?

Republican leadership knew they were heading for trouble when the day began. Tuesday night, they realized they didn?t have the votes, but opted to take it to the floor and try to get the votes Wednesday ? and they came up short.

That underscores Boehner?s ongoing problem ? he can?t rely on Republicans to stand with him if Democrats decide to unify against him.

Republican leadership aides say their hefty ?no? caucus ? folks who oppose their leadership no matter what ? limited their options on the bill. Lawmakers and aides say Boehner may end of making an example of somebody in the GOP conference ? though it?s not clear what the punishment will be ? for defying him.

Michael Steel, Boehner?s spokesman, repeatedly said that Boehner and other Republican leaders ?would continue to work on a responsible bill that can pass the House? following a leadership meeting in Boehner?s office just after the vote. Steel declined to say what that bill would look like or when it would come up for a vote.

The Rules Committee met Wednesday night to give GOP leadership authority to post a revised CR and vote on it in the same day.

Cantor, speaking to reporters as he walked off the floor, said the defeat is a function of changing the culture in D.C.

?We are focused on trying to change the way business is done in Washington,? he said. ?Change like this is hard. We?ll find a way forward so that we can reflect the expectations the taxpayers have that we?re going to begin to start spending their money more prudently.?

Cantor said that Democrats are ?playing politics? on the issue.

?In the end, we?ll do what?s right by the people who put us here. It?s just part of the process, unfortunately,? Cantor told reporters after leaving the House floor.

The process Wednesday wasn?t pretty.

Boehner, Cantor and McCarthy struggled all day to win over recalcitrant GOP lawmakers. Boehner, who doesn?t traditionally vote, came to the floor for both series of votes earlier in the afternoon to personally grab members for one-on-one lobbying.

Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.), who has long pushed for offsetting disaster relief, stood up in a Republican conference meeting and told members that this bill was progress. Some conservatives joined Boehner ? Rep. Tim Scott of South Carolina, Pence, Rep. Allen West of Florida and Scott Garrett of New Jersey.

When asked about the mood among his fellow Republicans, Rogers, the Appropriations Committee chairman, shrugged his shoulders. ?Well, I don?t know,? Rogers said.

?There are honest disagreements on the level of spending,? the Kentucky Republican noted. ?That?s basically what happened.?

Rogers insisted that Boehner is not in any greater trouble with his fellow Republicans and remains popular and powerful. When asked if Republicans should be punished for voting against leadership, Rogers demurred.

?I?ll leave that to the speaker,? he said.

It?s been a tumultuous few months for Republican leaders. Boehner had to back down on his attempt to cut a $4 trillion ?grand bargain? with President Barack Obama over the debt-ceiling increase, and later had to back down on a balanced-budget amendment vote in the face of fierce opposition from within his own conference. In the end, Boehner and Obama stood on the sidelines as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) put together the framework for the deal that avoided a debt default.

?DeLay would never have lost this vote,? noted one veteran GOP lawmaker after Wednesday?s upheaval. The Republican member was speaking of former Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas), known as ?The Hammer? by Republicans and Democrats alike. ?DeLay would never have brought this thing to the floor until he knew that he had the votes.?

Can Android fix its OS issues before iPhone 5 hits stores? (Appolicious)

Google?s updated a few of its Android apps this week, including Google+, its latest social project. The news of Google+ availability for all users and the inclusion of video chat was a jab at Facebook?s own social networking platform, which hosts the annual f8 conference today. But Google may not be able to outshine Apple in the remaining months of 2011, with rising expectations around an October launch for iPhone, even as Google looks to put an end to Android fragmentation.

Android?s next version, Ice Cream Sandwich, is expected to be released soon, though it may not happen before the next-gen iPhone hits stores. And even as Android is now the dominating OS in the US and other countries, its fragmented operating system disperses its OS versions across devices and creates obstacles for manufacturers, developers and carriers.

Android under fire

That ecosystem is under fire, with rivals out to get the new market leader. Windows Phone is even hoping to have its day in the sun, as 44 percent of smartphone owners have shown interest in a WP7 device for their next purchase, according to a survey conducted by NPD Group?s Connected Intelligence. Another recent report from Evans Data indicates that BlackBerry?s platform is better than Android for generating revenue on behalf of developers, though Android remains the best OS for developers overall.
